Corrections Log

This log records material changes to published guidance, the page affected and the source reviewed. It does not replace the official source linked on each page.

Page reviewed November 6, 2026.

How this log works

We record a correction when a published page changes in a way that could affect a reader’s decision, a factual statement, a source link or a required disclosure. Routine copy edits and layout changes are not listed. When a source is rechecked but the guidance does not change, the source-check date on the page may change without a log entry.

For a correction, include the page URL, the old wording and the official source you checked. Do not send identity documents, certificate numbers or patient information.

Pre-launch editorial review — November 3, 2026

These changes were made before the public launch of this edition. They are listed for transparency, not as post-publication corrections.

  • State hubs: Removed language that implied every state hub had a reviewed training-program directory. Descriptions and intros now say a directory is available only where one has been reviewed.
  • New Mexico training: Added the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) source for the 75-hour minimum and 16 supervised clinical hours.
  • Program directories: Removed dead program website links in Washington and Colorado, corrected a small number of program URLs, and added an explicit note when the official directory omits a phone, address or location.
  • Expanded inventories: Added official-source program directories for Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Before the final coverage update, the site reproduced 6,767 program records from 44 state directories.
  • Final directory coverage: Added reviewed directories for Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, South Dakota and Tennessee. The site then reproduced 7,169 records from 51 directories. Forty-six directories reproduce the public state or contractor list in full, with source scope noted where the list excludes a program type. Five remain labeled partial because the reviewed public source is a workforce or college listing rather than the state CNA approval list, or because the current state list could not be retrieved. The site does not claim that every directory is a complete CNA-agency approval list.
  • Renewal matrix: Added a reviewed renewal cycle, paid-work requirement, continuing-education or in-service rule, renewal window and lapse route for all 50 states and DC. Each state hub now shows the same source-backed summary in a table. The matrix distinguishes registry requirements from employer-provided in-service training and labels published conflicts.
  • Glossary: Added source links for Maryland, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Missouri, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, NNAAP, OBRA, TMU and registry terms.
  • Legal and disclosure pages: Expanded the privacy, terms, disclaimer, accessibility and corrections pages. Added the data controller contact, CCPA/CPRA and GDPR information, limitation of liability, accessibility reporting and this log.
  • Renewal guidance: Replaced generic renewal paragraphs on state hubs with source-backed renewal notes where available. The final all-state renewal matrix is recorded in the renewal-matrix entry above.
  • Technical: Added parent-section breadcrumbs, program-table captions and row headers, a 1200×630 social image, an RSS feed, a site search index and a continuous-integration check.

Final pre-launch audit — November 4, 2026

This final audit rechecked the source reproductions that had the highest risk of a parsing error. It corrected records rather than leaving a wrong value in place. After these repairs, the site reproduces 7,189 records from 51 directories.

  • Maryland: Rebuilt the Board-approved CNA-I list from the reviewed PDF. Added 19 college programs and one additional freestanding program that the earlier reproduction had omitted, restored two approved programs that had been merged into other rows, marked two programs as Withdrawn as the Board lists them, and removed one CNA-only program that is outside this directory’s scope. The Maryland directory now contains 168 CNA-I rows, including the two programs the Board lists as Withdrawn.
  • New Jersey: Added three programs that were missing from the reproduction, removed three address or contact lines that had been treated as programs, and restored street addresses, cities and ZIP codes for records whose address fields were incomplete or shifted.
  • Connecticut: Removed program names, website titles and contact names that had been appended to street addresses, and restored clean addresses from the state list.
  • Other directory repairs: Corrected a North Dakota program name and address, added verified Minnesota addresses, removed footnote text from two Nebraska phone fields, fixed field shifts in Illinois and Utah, and replaced four West Virginia placeholder phone values with an explicit source note.
  • Machine-readable text: Corrected the program-coverage sentence in the generated training page and llms.txt so it says all 50 states and DC (51 jurisdictions), not “51 of 51 states and DC.”
  • Metadata: Shortened the DC program-directory description so it is not truncated mid-sentence.
  • Program links: Updated confirmed dead website links for Utah Tech University, Woodbridge High School in Delaware and Upper Cape Cod Tech to their current official pages.
  • Coverage parity: Added the seven reviewed state program directories that were missing from the parity-topic inventory: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, South Dakota and Tennessee. The parity check now covers all 51 jurisdictions.
  • Source scope: Clarified that Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas and Maine reproduce workforce or college sources; that Arizona reproduces a public copy of the AZBN list while the current AZBN PDF was blocked; and that Illinois and New York identify a separate state list that covers additional program types.
  • Texas renewal: Added the HHSC renewal page and 26 TAC §556.9 as the sources for the renewal cycle, employment verification, in-service education, annual infection-control training and fee summary.
  • Audit queue: Moved general source-scope caveats from unresolved record notes to each directory’s source note. At that point, five partial directories remained explicitly labeled and were the only open audit actions.

Independent editorial and source review — November 4, 2026

  • Training costs and terminology: Added the federal protections concerning training charges and reimbursement. Distinguished employer in-service training from individual credential renewal, clarified that state transfer terms do not establish identical eligibility rules, and explained Maryland’s earlier GNA terminology alongside its 2026 designations.
  • Renewal qualifications: Corrected California’s late-renewal conditions and removed an unsupported renewal-fee requirement. Distinguished the starting dates used in Georgia’s lapse instructions. Added Maryland’s first-renewal training-attestation conditions and published grace period. Corrected New Mexico’s self-pay renewal amount to include the published tax and identified the handbook’s state-funded-facility fee exception. The continuing-education requirement from the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) remained unresolved in this review.
  • Arizona: Replaced the 16-row public copy with all 107 rows in the AZBN list dated October 14, 2026. Preserved pending-application and Board-action notes. Corrected the interpretation of the source’s Renewal Due Date column, which is not an approval-expiration date. Past renewal due dates and a possible duplicate entry still need agency confirmation.
  • New York: Reconciled all 159 DOH dataset rows and restored a missing second-floor address. Added 48 rows from NYSED’s Office of the Professions list, including source expiration dates and restricted program descriptions. The combined directory remains partial because other NYSED listing channels have not been reconciled and some source rows require approval or address clarification.
  • Coverage disclosures: Marked Illinois’s contractor-based coverage partial pending comparison with IDPH. Restored explicit approval-verification tasks for college and workforce listings. Marked Idaho’s school-level list and Iowa’s facility/private-entity table partial rather than implying complete campus or statewide coverage. Removed Pella Regional Health Center from the Iowa reproduction because it was absent from the current DIAL table; this is not a finding that the program closed or lost approval. At that point, the site displayed 7,327 source rows after deduplication; this is not a count of unique schools or a guarantee of current enrollment availability.
  • Source status and identity: Preserved North Dakota’s published Active operating-status label rather than calling it Approved. Removed an unsupported per-row Licensed label from Ohio and retained all 463 ODH state IDs in the data. At that point, Ohio remained partial in the public presentation because the renderer then combined some rows with different state IDs; the official list remains the source for the full inventory.
  • State instructions: Removed Arkansas’s obsolete 90-versus-91-hour warning, distinguished Kansas’s course skills checklist from its multiple-choice state test, removed duplicate Arizona and Massachusetts statements, corrected Georgia and Idaho agency references, and restored the federal competency-evaluation alternative in Montana. Wyoming’s renewal summary now states the October–December 2026 fee waiver rather than directing readers to pay the regular $50 fee.
  • Program website links: Removed four links that redirected to a third-party directory or a general school or organization page rather than establishing the listed program. Boston Healthcare Institute, Labouré, Spokane Community College and Woodard Creek NAC Program remain listed as source records with explicit confirmation tasks. This does not establish closure or loss of approval.

Final coverage update — November 4, 2026

This entry supersedes the coverage counts in the two November 4 entries above. The build reproduced 7,611 displayed program records from all 51 jurisdictions. Illinois reproduced the 631 CNA training-program rows on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry program list and was marked full. Ohio displayed all 463 distinct ODH state IDs and was marked full. Iowa was marked full after adding the 15 community colleges in the list linked by DIAL to the previously reviewed facility and private-entity listings.

Six directories remained partial: Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Maine and New York. Two training sections remained incomplete: Kansas and Massachusetts. The audit queue at the time had 25 open actions across 12 jurisdictions. The state and program pages identify where to seek confirmation.

Source and checklist corrections — November 6, 2026

  • Maryland: Clarified that the April 1, 2026 certification cutoff applies even to applicants who attended a former CNA-only program before that date.
  • California: Labeled the differences between CDPH's online instructions and its application form. Confirm whether CDPH needs form 931 and which date it uses for the work-proof exception before mailing your application.
  • Transfer planner: When a route still needs agency confirmation, the state guide and checklist now show that limitation and direct you to the agency for confirmation.
  • Texas and Connecticut: Distinguished Texas HHSC registry issuance from the separate DPS check fee. Clarified which employment evidence Connecticut accepts after a certificate expires.
  • Sources: Replaced older credential terminology links in Mississippi, South Dakota, Tennessee and Vermont. Linked Kansas's 90-hour minimum to the state regulation.

What is still being reviewed

This review corrected specific errors and identified information that still needs confirmation. Earlier review dates and log entries describe previous work; they do not establish independent confirmation of every instruction or program record.

All 50 states and DC (51 jurisdictions) have a reviewed program directory: 45 full and 6 partial. A partial directory reproduces the official source that was available at review and states its limits; it is not a claim that the list is complete or that every program is approved by the state CNA agency. Source notes explain limits such as unconfirmed current status, possible duplicates and differences between approval lists and workforce or college listings, even when the selected source is reproduced in full. The training directory page explains how to use these labels.

The renewal guide summarizes renewal cycles, paid work, education and options after expiration for every state and DC. Not every instruction has been independently confirmed. Check the official guidance for eligibility, grace periods, alternative routes and required forms. The privacy, terms, disclaimer and accessibility pages are plain-language disclosures, not legal advice or a substitute for counsel. The site does not claim a named clinical reviewer or clinical credentials. Read the stated limits before relying on the guidance.
